Last week I noticed that my Configuration managerClients had not been reporting their Hardware inventory. By checking the inventoryagent.log on some of the Clients, I could see that this was not a Client related issue. Therefore I checked the IIS log file of the MP. There I could see many BITS related Errors - bits_error 0x800070005. Something was wrong with the "...CCM\Incoming" Folder on the Management Point. I checked the permissions of the incoming folder and noticed that the IUSR account had no permissions at all. I tried to give the IUSR Account that same permissions that it had in my test Configuration Manager Environment. Unfortunately that didn't help. After the permissions were granted I could see that XML files were written in the Incoming Folder, but the same 0x80007005 error was still present in the IIS log file of the MP. I then granted the IUSR Account full permissions on the incommin folder and hardware inventory started working again and there were no BITS Errors in the IIS log file any more.
