Issue: Develop a Powershell script that customizes an Excel file on a computer (in my case Windows Server). On the computer there is no Excel (Office) installed.
Solution: Use the ImportExcel Powershell module from PSGallery. In order to install the module run the following command: Find-Module -Name ImportExcel | Install-Module You can also have the module without installing it. Simple copy the module installation folder from a computer on which the module already have been installed (e.g. C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\ImportExcel\7.0.1). Problem:
The SCCM admin console is very slow to load and to use. SCCM and SQL are installed on the same Microsoft Windows 2016 server. SCCM Version: 1902 SQL Version 2016 Solution: Change the SQL Server Cardinality Estimation of the SCCM databese to Level 110. In order to change the CE level execute the following SQL script against your SCCM Server: ALTER DATABASE <CM_DB> SET COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL = 110; GO Source: SQL query times out or console slow on certain Configuration Manager database queries HP Elite Desk 800 G1 USDT BIOS Settings Change ISSUE - Invalid Setting value, return code 2123/1/2019 The process of changing BIOS Settings on a HP device is a simple one. There are only 3 steps involved:
Step 1: Export BIOS Settings into a file Step 2: Open the exported file, change the BIOS Settings and save the file Step 3: Import the changed BIOS Settings file For exporting and importing of BIOS Settings is the HP Tool "BiosConfigurationUtility" required. In order to export BIOS settings run: BiosConfigUtility64.exe /get:"[File Name]" (e.g. BiosConfigUtility64.exe /get:"BIOSPre.txt") SCCM: HP Clients - Intel Management Engine Cumulative Security update and fix for WPA2 vulnerability12/12/2018 Potential security vulnerabilities such as potential denial of service or escalation of privilege have been identified with certain versions of Intel Active Management Technology, Management Engine Firmware, and Management Engine Software. HP has released on 28.09.2018 security updates (SoftPaqs) for the Intel ME firmware used in HP computers. In ordere to check if your computer has to be patched run simple Intel-SA-00086 detection tool (e.g. intel-sa-00086-console.exe -c).
Today I have to check the reboot client settings on a SCCM client without having access to the SCCM admin console. The client reboot settings (in seconds) are saved under RebootCountdown and ReebotCountdownFinalWindows properties of the WMI Class CCM_RebootSettings. With the following PowerShell command these properties have been read:
Get-WmiObject -Namespace root\ccm\Policy\Machine\ActualConfig -Class CCM_RebootSettings Issue:
Update BIOS Password on HP computers. There are different BIOS passwords in use. Used BIOS password is based on computer name prefix (location) Solution: Create a PowerShell script and deploy it to clients as a SCCM application. Use the written registry key/values for the application's detection method. ISSUE
CMPivot failes to gather data for the local administrators. There are no error messages recorded in the Scripts.log file on the client. Today I was asked to create an SCCM query for one of our customers. The query should return all applications that are depending on an application. The customer doesn't have the rights to create/run/see reports in the SCCM admin console. Therefore the following Query (WQL) has been created:
When using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager for patch management there is no built-in option to unistall an update that causes probleme when testing. With the new Run Scripts feature in Configuration Manager 1802 you could create a script to rollback an installed update. If there is a problem with an update the script has to be just run against the affected computer or the collection of the affected computers.
With the following powershell script it is possible to "integrate" the rollback feature in the SCCM admin console: |
